ABOUT THERAPY

We all have the innate capacity to reclaim our story, unlearn, and step into our most authentic self. The heart of my practice focuses on supporting people through challenging times and helping them to cultivate MEANING, PURPOSE, and JOY from struggle. My clients learn to embrace their whole self through their experience of depression, grief, anxiety, life transition, relationship struggles, etc. My ideal client is queer or queer-allying, struggling to harness self-empowerment, inquisitive about their world, and is open to exploring somatically, creatively, and existentially.

We will leverage the wisdom already carried through your years of experience to build out a map of where you want to go. I will help you find sustainable and long-term relief/growth through the dismantling of outdated core beliefs, practice of self-compassion, somatic/nervous system regulation, creative expression, and coping skills development.

My counseling style is shaped by my upbringing and many years of being a client in therapy; I wholeheartedly understand what it is like to be in the unique position of seeking and receiving support. Sometimes we just need a swim buddy to weather the storm with us. I am here to meet you where you are at and help you wade to the shore.

  • Counseling with me is holistic, trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative. We identify and carry the wisdom, strength, and tools you already harnessed through your years of living. We resource and practice coping skills of all kinds. We are curious about our location/s in the world. We unpack past experiences and how they have shaped you. We identify core-beliefs and expectations about the world that you have adopted based upon these experiences. We gently expose ourselves to the prospect of these narratives being untrue or outdated. We empower ourselves to take action where it must be taken. We laugh, we cry, we are silly, and we learn from each other. We tap into the insight your body holds. We utilize and practice self-compassion for ourselves and others as a way of radical resistance.

  • Art Therapy is an evidence-based, meta-verbal process. Whether you are a practicing artist or are wanting to expand beyond talk therapy, I am here to guide and support you. Art Therapy with me can look very fluid; oscillating between talking, creating, and processing. I might invite you to create an image/symbol/pattern of a feeling/event/idea. I might invite you to experiment with tapping, scratching, or smudging with materials. We create images of our internal and external worlds. We create playlists and album covers for our lives. We integrate difficult emotions through the combination of creativity and somatics. We make new meaning. We look at our life with a fresh pair of eyes.

If you are living in the Denver, CO metro area, I am available for walk and talk therapy! For those who prefer movement, walking side-by-side with another, or who just want to be outside, this may be an option for you. We will meet in Cheesman Park, located centrally in Denver, and walk (or sit at a park bench or in the grass if the moment moves you) for the duration of a regular therapeutic hour. You choose the pace and are able to opt in/out of this session style whenever you’d like.
